The Last Black Man in San Francisco is one of the most independent, truly realistic, culturally impactful, and very best movies to wrap up the 2010’s decade in 2019! I’ve never seen a movie so majestic, so culturally, and so different like this breakthrough piece that shines a light back to black culture. A triumphant surprise that’ll be remembered for a very long time. Widespread critical acclaim go to the direction, screenplay, performances, original score, editing, and the film’s themes!!!!!

I found this movie interesting and peculiar. It has some wonderful cinematography and imagery. But despite great actors, it seemed to revel in quirkiness for quirkiness’ sake. The tone was just off somehow for me. It seemed to lack focus and momentum, and the lack of information about the friendship and its past is strange, like purposefully keeping a secret from the audience but for no reason that proves to be worth it.
