A couple travels to Sweden to visit a rural hometown's fabled mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.

A solid, and sometimes disturbing follow up to herditary. The movie is a bit self indulgent at times, and could shave off about 30 minutes, but some of the events that transpire in the film are truly horrifying. Definitely worth a look

I appreciate Ari Aster's commitment to his vision, but it feels as if he should have been told "no" more often. This has some memorable sequences and a strong opening, but it feels as if the human drama that made "Hereditary" so compelling falls to the wayside after the first half hour or so.

While not quite as powerful as his previous work, Hereditary, Ari Aster further proves himself to be a director worth watching with Midsommar. Despite the film peaking before its conclusion, Aster treats us to wonderfully crafted tension and eeriness while delivering some incredible visuals/camerawork and a robust performance by Florence Pugh!

Midsommar is one of the very best movies of 2019 and one of the greatest horror movies of the 2010’s decade that has sparked enough controversy in the religious community. The violence, rituals, & nudity creates a very complexed story that easily ties it all! It’s a very iconic pagan film with imagery that is so hard to watch & all the emotion & believability is seen through Bergmanesque shots! Widespread critical acclaim go to the direction, screenplay, and the performances (particularly Pugh)!

It has a really good image and cool scenes but I think the movie it’s pretentious. Also some of the nudity, sexual and gore scenes are innecesary in my opinion. The story was boring, didn’t caught the whole point of it.

One of the weirdest movies I have ever seen. Yet,I could stop watching. It's beautifully shot. Florence Pugh is amazing. Can't wait for Ari Aster's next mind**ck movie. I watched the directors cut. 10 times better than the theatrical cut

Always refreshing to see a genuinely disturbing horror movie. Very well written and directed. The cinematography is excellent as well. A really effective building up of creepiness and a horrifyingly satisfying climax and ending. I love horror movies so very much and it’s truly heartwarming when a great one comes along because there are so many terrible CGI-filled carbon copy lame ones. This writer-director is genuinely talented ... check out his other film Hereditary ... it’s also excellent.
