Quintessential film masterpiece. Daring for its time. Tells an important story and warns of human potential for evil and heroism.

Very well made film on a tough subject.
Great performances with the standout coming from Ralph Fiennes, who deserved more recognition for his work.

Steven Spielberg's first best director Oscar was not unwarranted. This is a beautifully directed, paced, and performed movie that delicately balances tragedy and hope.

This may not only be the most important movie ever to be made but it could qualify for perhaps the greatest movie of al time. The Holocaust is a horrendous moment of history. Yet the horrors for many cannot be understood. That is until Spielberg gave the world his masterpiece. It only does he bring the horrors alive but he makes it feel personal. It is brilliantly acted, filmed and the music will stand the test of time. This is a movie all must see.

While I acknowledge his mant talents as a director I dislike most of Spielberg's movies as I find that they cheaply tug at the heartstrings but this is one of the rare films where his choice of the Shoah as a topic is deserving of his methods and the use of black and white for all but the little girl in red is brilliant. A great contrast to a terrible holocaust film from the same era, Life is Beautiful.
