Not nearly as impactful or artful as the novel. But the performances, especially Ellen Burstyn and Marlon Wayans, are wonderful. (As far as I know, Marlon hasn’t done much dramatic acting since, which is our loss because I feel he is fantastic in this film).

Personally, this is one of the movies that you just need to watch once. It is thought-provoking, controversial and disturbing. Honestly, I could not watch it again (even though i have the dvd collection)

Powerful tale of different forms of drug addiction, with a heartbreaking ending that is very well done.

A beautiful piece of cinema that in the best way I can say it, I hope I never see again! The film is full of challenging imagery, mental illness, drug abuse, prostitution, and all of it portrayed with such realism that it is incredibly painful to see, yet impossible to look away.

Requiem for a Dream is one of the very best movies of 2000, one of the greatest of the 2000’s decade, and one of the most depressing, shocking, extreme, pressuring, & controversial movies I’ve ever treated my eyes to! It’s so truthful, emotional, believable, & difficult to watch with addiction & mental health. Widespread critical acclaim go to the direction, screenplay, cinematography, montages, themes, symbols, musical score, tone, style, and the performances (particularly Burstyn and Leto)!
