I must admit as someone who is not a fan of period pieces, this is a masterpiece. Barry Lyndon is a brilliant story of the rise and fall of an irishman whose desperation to the good life leads to dire consequences. Barry Lyndon’s focus on toxic masculinity is what gives this film a much deeper meaning. The performances all around are perfect and Kubrick’s use of natural lighting makes this perhaps the most beautiful film I have ever seen. Do yourself a favor and watch this movie. It is a must.
