1917 is one of the most popular, spectacularly excellent, and very best movies to wrap the 2010’s decade and 2019 as well as quite possibly the greatest World War I move of all-time and one of the greatest movies ever made in the 2010’s decade! An epic, intense gold medal achievement that’ll make you cry & standing up for victory and for all! Widespread critical acclaim goes out to the direction, screenplay, historical accuracy, cinematography, sound, and the performances (particularly McKay)!!!

1917 is an edge of your seat war film that grabs you and never lets go. There is danger around every corner. Sam Mendes does a master job of capturing the anxieties and horrors of war. The continuous take also ups the tension of the story. A new classic.

Superb. Amazing. Masterpiece. Has to be seen on the biggest possible screen to be appreciated. Just an amazing piece of filmmaking.

Great film that wasn’t quite as mind altering as I’d anticipated. It’s a great feat of direction but I just didn’t connect with the characters as much as I’d hoped. Superior to Dunkirk, it’s a must see and some of the action sequences are truly amazing. The intensity is relentless but at the end I felt something was missing. Recommended but not the masterpiece it’s being lauded as.

This movie is a true piece of art. Just woow.... Great acting, beautiful cinematography. The reason I don't give it a 10 is because the story was a little bit thin... but besides that... you have to see this movie no matter what.

1917 was an astounding work of art! The cinematography was incredible to see with amazing editing to make it look as though the entire film was shot in one take. This film was definitely one of my favourites of the year it came out and I could watch it over and over again and never get bored. I love the story it tells and it felt so much shorter than it really was.

1917 is undeniably an astonishing piece of cinema. The production design is incredible, making you feel like you’re in World War I. Sam Mendes’s direction and Roger Deakins’s cinematography show they are at the heights of their crafts in this film that seamlessly delivers the illusion of one continuous shot. George McKay and Dean-Charles Chapman are outstanding as the two leads. 1917 truly earns its spot as one of the greatest war films of all time and one of the best movies of the last decade.
