The Professional is one of the most popular movies of 1994 and one of the most influential movies of the 1990’s decade that’ll be remembered for years and years to pass by! It’s an action-packed thrill ride that definitely makes Speed look like an unexcused absence to class! It’s not fast but things are taken reasonably slow to really tell this story! Generally positive reception goes towards the direction, screenplay, action sequences, themes, and the performances (particularly Reno & Portman)!

One of the all time great child performances and acting debuts in Natalie Portman. Prob Jean Reno’s most famous and endearing characters. There never was a tale more tragic than that of Reno’s Leon the Professional. Gary Oldman was great as he always is and the film really walks a lot of fine lines: the toughest being the dynamic between the young Portman & Leon, which is in a way handled by making Leon a little bit slower mentality when it comes to everything except being an assassin. It works. My screenwriting prof was 1 of the swat men at the end.
