A highlight of the Bruckheimer era & one of Tony Scott’s best action films. It’s more mature fare; a cautionary tale about government surveillance & gave Will Smith a break from headlining summer blockbusters. Jon Voight & his NSA goons with Top Gun haircuts & comedian tech guys are a fun but relentless group of antagonists. Gene Hackman’s Brill refers back to The Conversation. He’s wily & tough, but has a great time in the role. Definitely some plot holes & contrivances, but overall very good.
