When the Riddler, a sadistic serial killer, begins murdering key political figures in Gotham, Batman is forced to investigate the city's hidden corruption and question his family's involvement.

Very good film but not great. It could have done with a shorten as I lost my way a few times. A Very strong Seven influence and the mood and tone are excellent if a bit depressing. Pattinson is decent but not the Batman I’d have gone with. Catwoman is the weakest link in a film that tries to be more than just another comic book film. Not as good as Joker, too unfocused and the main duo doesn’t work. Regardless a solid effort and much better than Dark Knight Rises or any of Snydes Batman films.

Reminds me of better movies like Dirty Harry and Rear Window and Seven too much. All the characters give one note performances. The movie is overly long and boring. Felt more like a fan film than a real Batman film.

Bruce Wayne is not a person, just an image that Batman retreats to when he has no other choice. A broken personality, and Robert Pattinson embodies that. He plays the character emotionally, and withdrawn. Breaking people with his fists at night satisfies him. Not a Heroic Symbol, it‘s an Warning. The Riddler, is only half as good. Paul Dano embodies the role terrifying, but the puzzles are too easy and his motivations scarce. The dynamic between the two only works half-way, lacking in moral and philosophical depth. The Penguin and Falcone are exactly what they should have been. Alfred is not necessary enough, he doesn't have a character, he just fills the story. My major gripe with the film is that it often just scratches the surface. Catwoman, while she doesn't get the depth she deserves, she's a fractured part of Bruce's personality, their relationship is half the movie for me. The action is stunning, such good scenery and the dark and gritty atmosphere is perfect, it's finally a Gotham that feels corrupt and wrong. The movie switches between detective puzzles, romance and crime. It has too many problems to be perfect, but too good things not to be perfect. It's a feeling I've never had after a movie. It's a flawed masterpiece.

Solid Batman entry that finally delivers on the detective side and some horror aspects. There is a very 90’s influence of Fincher, Proyas, Nirvana, and The Long Halloween. The action is mostly grounded and doesn’t rely on digital effects in an obvious way. Pattinson fine as Batman in dialogue scenes, but Wayne is very mopey. Needs to bulk up for future fight scenes. Performances are generally good, some actors feel underused. Feels overlong down the stretch, resolution was interesting.

Best scene is when Batman interrogates Oz in the Iceburg Lounge because it shows how important having a traditional Wayne manor is. This was lost from Begins to Dark Knight and still is greatly missing. Rogues are to Arkham as Oz is to the iceberg lounge and Wayne/Alfred is to the manor. Characters are reflected in their setting and setting is character. Best Batmen are the silent type introverted ones. Keaton-Pattinson-Kilmer. Best Bruce Wayne is Bale. Falcone and Oz are good. Gordon great.

The Batman is one of the most popular, excruciatingly electrifying, spectacularly dark, and best movies to kick-off 2022! Not only is it one of the greatest DC movies ever, it’s one of the greatest superhero movies of all-time! Perhaps the darkest Batman movie ever made in the history of cinema! Widespread critical acclaim goes out to the direction, story, cinematography, runtime, action sequences, production value, score, dark tone, and all of the cast’s performances!!!!!! Prepared to be wowed!

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes bought Matt Reeves a LOT of good will from me. I love that movie, and I like this one enough. The technique here is downright excellent at times. It’s overlong and the script suffers for that, but I wouldn’t necessarily mind seeing him take a crack at a sequel. I guess I’m just waiting for these filmmakers to realize that the more they insist on bringing Batman into morose reality, the less access we have to some of his most potentially engaging stories.

I enjoyed a lot of parts of the film, the production, lots of great acting but this guy is just not my Batman and goodness, this acting, but some great MVP moments, Zoe was a good time. Oh and my goodness these plots, so many plots! But definitely enjoyed the ‘flavor’ of the film for sure.

After a long hiatus Batman is back on the silver screen. Was the wait worth it? Yes and no. Matt Reeves delivered what is essentially a hardcore crime film and combines it with Batman mythology. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. A Few key moments hit like they should (the batmobile chase) Then we are taken out because many core Batman themes and rules were ignored. On a positive note the cinematography was outstanding. Overall too long and very mixed 6/10.

The Batman is a perfect mix of action and emotion. The plot builds upon itself and keeps you on your toes the entire time. Paul Danos Riddler is one of the best comic villains put on the big screen. Every character and every minute feel important and earned.
