Tim Burton and Johnny Depp craft the story and musical of Sweeney Todd in a way most directors couldn’t do. To bring the mixture of finding happiness and embracing darkness through intense acting and believability in musical numbers! Widespread critical acclaim go out to the direction, screenplay, musical numbers, and Depp’s performance.

I am one of the few who finds the film to be an improvement over the stage musical. Some of the casting is quite strange but overall the tone and styling of the whole film suits the material quite well. There are so many bad movie adaptations of musicals, this one is successful in my book.
