John Carpenter’s The Thing is the epitome of 1980s horror. The script is suspenseful and phenomenally written as it leaves room open for interpretation and gives rise to subtle themes throughout the film. The dialogue between scenes showcases the experienced acting of the cast as individuals stuck in this terrifying reality in the most secluded place on Earth. The best part is the practical effects that went in to making the Thing feel like a real creature that could assimilate into our society.

The Thing is easily John Carpenters best. From the beginning of the movie you already feel that creepy-cold atmosphere. The suspense is what make this film great, alongside the creature effects done by Rob Bottin. Highly Recommend. 10/10.

The Thing is one of the most popular, cult classical horrific, and very best movies of 1982. It also rises from the abdomens with blood shearing around as one of the best horror movies in the history of the film’s genre and one of the greatest movies ever made in the 1980’s decade! A grueling mess that despite few misses on the storyline and elements, the premise is clearly seen and scary! Generally positive reception goes out to the direction, screenplay, scares, and the cast’s performances!!

The plot, special effects, and haunting score are timeless. The movie could have been made this year. It's amazing how John Carpenter made both pure classics and pure crap.

One of the most criminally underrated horror movies of all time, The Thing is a masterpiece of sci-fi horror. You feel the paranoia and frustration of each of the characters, which are all wonderfully portrayed by their respected actors. The soundtrack is simplistic but incredibly effective. The monster steals the show with its many grotesque forms (credit to the designer Rob Bottin) and bone chilling cries. With so much of the plot left unanswered, this film keeps me coming back for more.
