The first of many Tony Scott-Denzel Washington collaborations with powerhouse performances from Hackman and Washington. It’s an action movie that’s a clash of wills, and both sides have a rationale that makes sense. It’s one of the higher-tier Bruckheimer productions of that era, and one that is about *not* causing explosions. Strong supporting cast of character actors and future leading men, with a young Aragorn and Tony Soprano in the mix. Peak Hans Zimmer score as well.
